Seok Joo offered to be Jung Sun's lawyer to get her out of jail. Jung Sun had absolutely no idea that her uncles were investing in non-existent companies to pocket money behind the chairman's back. Thanks to Seok Joo's miraculous brainpower, he figured out a lot of the loopholes he created for Yurim without much of the company's information. I'm relieved Jung Sun decided to take Seok Joo's hand and go against the company. I suppose what motivated her was the knowledge she might have to stay 10 years in jail and not even end up with any shares after she's released. How crappy can it get?
He also finally has a certain understanding of how his past self used to be. I won't blame Seok Joo if he can't believe he was such a mastermind that he could foresee how situations would turn out in favour for the party he represents and plan towards it. Well, everyone else knows how he's like but no one's going to tell it to his face because everyone except Ji Yoon, Sang Tae and Cha Young Woo know. Oh, I noticed the VP of the law firm is also appearing more frequently now that they're dealing with the Yurim case. Cha Young Woo revealed Seok Joo's amnesia to the VP as well. I hope that guy doesn't make use of that information to his advantage.
Cha Young Woo, as I've already discovered, is extremely scheming. The television in his room is connected to some hidden camera in the meeting room. He is able not only to see what is going on, but also hear the discussion. He ended up finding out Seok Joo's intention to resign on that day itself before Seok Joo even submitted his letter of resignation. Not only that, I'm sure when Seok Joo threatened to bring Yurim Group further down, he wasn't really concerned too much because he already knows Seok Joo's plan.
I find it so coincidental and horrible that the very moment Seok Joo resigns, packs his stuff and leaves the office, Ji Won walks into the building. I further hate how Ji Won watches Ji Yoon chase Seok Joo, watching his retreating back with so much shock and hurt. Well, yes, I'd be hurt too if my neighbour didn't tell me he was going to resign. I hope Ji Won doesn't try to seduce Ji Yoon. He's going to be doing extremely dirty work for Cha Young Woo now. In fact, Ji Yoon better see Ji Won's true colours quickly before her tiny crush on him grows larger.
At least Seok Joo's relationship with his dad seems to be getting a tad better. His dad doesn't try to chase him off anymore. He doesn't openly show his feelings to Seok Joo either. Better than nothing, eh. I have no idea when Seok Joo is going to find out about his dad's Alzheimer's. I think he suspects something's not quite right with his dad's forgetfulness but then, he can't trust himself on knowing how his dad usually is. Seok Joo needs to tell his dad quickly, too. I wonder if Seok Joo might consider taking over his dad's business or something.
I also like the light dynamics between Ji Yoon's aunt and Seok Joo and Sang Tae. It's quite nice she knows two lawyers who also work (or have worked, in Seok Joo's case) with Ji Yoon. I hope she does something so typically aunt-like, setting Ji Yoon up with a lawyer. I'm still a little disappointed there doesn't seem to be any development between Ji Yoon and Seok Joo. Why? D:
I thought I'd make a little comparison between A New Leaf and Hotel King since I've been watching both and they've passed their half-mark. With A New Leaf, I find even though it's only about an hour each episode, it seems to have fewer scene changes. Each event seems to be more thoroughly captured and properly seen through. Hotel King is so much more rushed, with hundreds of scene changes (okay, I exaggerate) and so many things happening. I can't say which is better. I find both dramas seem to handle their storylines pretty well enough. Hotel King will be a bit fast for those who require a little more time to absorb the events that happen. I would say it's not really the kind of drama you can jump in and start watching from some random episode because you would've missed a whole chunk of important stuff that let to the build-up of the drama. With A New Leaf, so far the two characters (excluding Seok Joo) that seem to be showing their real personalities are Cha Young Woo and Ji Won. With Hotel King, almost everyone has a secret agenda that may not be shown at first but revealed slowly as the story progresses.
