A New Leaf: Episode 13 and 14 Review

I can't believe this drama is already coming to an end. I guess the chances of any possible romance between Ji Yoon and Seok Joo is almost close to zero. Sometimes I wonder if I watch this drama just for that :P But it has been a good drama so far, seeing how Seok Joo develops into a better person and how those who seem to be good might not be all that.

Looks like Seok Joo can't stay away from helping people with their cases. It's great to see he's representing the victims instead of being on the perpetrators' side which he usually would have been since Cha Young Woo undertakes those type of work. I never realised that private lawyers are the ones who represent the "guilty" parties. I suppose they have to, since the prosecution will represent the victims.

A New Leaf: Episode 12 Review

One good progress in this episode was the relationship between Seok Joo and his dad. They spend more time together and Seok Joo also doesn't hide the fact he's getting horrible headaches. I think those headaches could be a sign his memory might be returning soon. I only wish both father and son would admit what they're suffering from. How long can his dad keep dismissing his forgetfulness as something that's happening because he's getting older? And how long can Seok Joo continue to be around his dad without somehow revealing he had forgotten some important memory?

A New Leaf: Episode 11 Review

Seok Joo offered to be Jung Sun's lawyer to get her out of jail. Jung Sun had absolutely no idea that her uncles were investing in non-existent companies to pocket money behind the chairman's back. Thanks to Seok Joo's miraculous brainpower, he figured out a lot of the loopholes he created for Yurim without much of the company's information. I'm relieved Jung Sun decided to take Seok Joo's hand and go against the company. I suppose what motivated her was the knowledge she might have to stay 10 years in jail and not even end up with any shares after she's released. How crappy can it get?

A New Leaf: Episode 10 Recap

Poor Ji Yoon. She's pretty much beating herself up over the case she took. She wonder what's the point of even studying if she ends up letting a murderer get off with a lighter penalty. She cries so much, and clutches at her chest. If only your neighbour knew how you were suffering... perhaps he might comfort you.

A New Leaf: Episode 9 Recap

The episode starts off with Ji Yoon wondering why Seok Joo will not even consider taking the pro bono case. Sang Tae comes along and helps her with the steps to a jail interview. She goes off to the jail to interview the boy, who remains resolutely silent. The only thing he does each time Ji Yoon asks him a question (with a voiceover of Sang Tae's tips for Ji Yoon) is to flick his fingernail. A bit strange, isn't it? Ji Yoon manages to get him talking a bit about his bike but she can't get any further. The boy seems content to stay in jail and live the rest of his life there.

After the interview, Ji Yoon is busy writing and reviewing her notes. She's about to call Seok Joo to ask his advice but stops. He's probably not going to help her, right? It's nice to see Ji Yoon takes Seok Joo's advice seriously but doesn't want to listen to him about dropping the pro bono case. Well, I guess she has to be responsible for it if she wants to dive head into it.

A New Leaf: Episode 8 Review

The number one sign something's off about you: you can't recognise your fiancée. Yep, why else would that lady who came all the way to the office be looking at you expectantly and even turning to continue watch you walk by her?

A New Leaf: Episode 7 Review

Episode 7 left me with one question: will there actually be any budding romance between the leads?

Seok Joo and Ji Yoon have many scenes together, mostly because both had been working hard on Jung Hye Ryeong's case. Of course, no one would expect any less from Seok Joo. He managed to spot many discrepancies in the evidence submitted by the prosecution, which led Jung Hye Ryeong to be declared innocent. I wonder why the prosecution was so keen on getting her convicted. I know they're meant to be on the side of the 'innocent' but why try to force Jung Hye Ryeong to admit to murder? And to even lure her with the promise of getting her out early if she admits to having pushed the guy when she didn't? Quite filthy really. I don't like the look of the prosecutor. I wonder if he'll be appearing in future episodes.

ON/OFF: 朝焼け Asayake Lyrics + Translation

I first heard this song a long time ago. It has crept into my head now and then and the only thing I remember was "asayake" and ...
