The number one sign something's off about you: you can't recognise your fiancée. Yep, why else would that lady who came all the way to the office be looking at you expectantly and even turning to continue watch you walk by her?
Seok Joo owns up to Jung Sun about his amnesia. Little gears start working in Jung Sun's head (I don't like this hairstyle). It's obvious she's going to use this little tidbit to her advantage. How? Well, that's something we'll discover. All I know is her eyes and expression didn't look pure and honest; it was the face of a scheming woman. She doesn't do anything harmful, however, but lies to Seok Joo that she doesn't have a photo of her 'unimportant' dad with her. Hah! First mistake, to lie to someone who's been blantantly honest to you. Much later, she takes her dad's photo from her wallet. I get a feeling she's hiding a lot from her mother's side of the family. She's probably her dad's daughter through and through. It's not clear what kind of person her dad is, but I am certain she feels more for her dad than for her mother's side of the family even though she lives with them and wants to help out in the family company. I wonder ... if she gets her hand on a management position, would she try to get her dad back into the family?
The reason for Seok Joo circling the date on his calender is obvious now. A dinner with the in-laws-to-be. Jung Sun's family members aren't really surprised at Seok Joo's amiable behaviour. We are given a flashback into how one family member pretty much disgraced the family company and it's Seok Joo who was representing the opposite team. That guy has a grudge against Seok Joo, it's obvious enough. He doesn't say anything nasty during dinner and I believe they attribute his friendly, easy-going attitude to the casual setting, i.e. not a court hearing. They sure are surprised when Seok Joo even suggested going on a paternity leave to support Jung Sun if she wishes to work even after having kids. Wow. Really, the old Seok Joo wouldn't have said anything like this. In fact, the old Seok Joo wouldn't be sitting there so amicably!
I wouldn't count on Seok Joo to remember Ji Yoon's promise of treating him to chicken for dinner. Chicken and beer! (I have to try it one day to see what's so great about it) Ji Yoon, on the other hand, orders the chicken and beer a little too early and, restless, decides to set up the chicken, beer, jerky and everything in the balcony. When she finally sees Seok Joo arrive in a car, she rushes down without a second thought, only to stumble upon a beautiful woman with Seok Joo. Uh oh. Her haste to get out of sight only makes her presence known and she's introduced to 'the fiancee'. Seok Joo reaches his unit in time to see Ji Yoon hurriedly trying to enter her passcode. No chicken for you, Mr I-just-found-out-I-have-a-fiancee! Ji Yoon broods over this latest piece of news. I must add Jung Sun didn't see Ji Yoon as a threat. Little does Jung Sun know how much Ji Yoon thinks about Seok Joo (and Ji Yoon doesn't get why she even thinks so much). Poor Ji Yoon. She has to eat all the cold chicken on her own.
The major highlight for me is the development of Cha Young Woo's character. It's blatantly obvious now he isn't as trustworthy and upright as he seemed. I sure hope Ji Yoon comes to learn this soon. He also doesn't like sensitive pro bono cases, that's clear. He wants to be on the side of the most powerful companies. This also indirectly leads us to his reason for scouting Ji Won. Ji Won is a judge, after all, and hasn't shown any interest in engaging the type of work Seok Joo does. That is what it seemed until he revealed a part of him did feel interest in such work. My jaw dangled while I watched the scene between Cha Young Woo and Ji Won. Both are such smooth talkers and know exactly how to phrase what they mean in subtle ways. I like the close-up shots on Ji Won and Young Woo. It's nice to see how both parties don't give out too much in their expressions. Also, Cha Young Woo kept leaning forward to talk to Ji Won. Now, that shows how keen Young Woo is to have Ji Won in his firm.
Ji Won, though, is another complete mystery to unravel. He seems like a gentleman towards Ji Yoon. He also appears to be a sincere court judge who is passionate about his work. He helps old ahjummas too. So he has to be a good guy, right? I get a strange inkling he's going to change when he enters the law firm. Since Cha Young Woo plans to give Ji Won all the cases that would have otherwise been taken by Seok Joo, it's quite obvious where it will head. Ji Won will have to engage in a lot of dirty, underhanded tricks to get his side to win. It appears as if all the fire and passion Ji Won ought to have for someone his age is squalled deep in him. He just needs a trigger, an opportunity for it to be released. And I believe Cha Young Woo will help him with that.
Just for laughs:
I thought only women engaged in serious toilet talks? Looks like I'm wrong :P
